The New York Yankees officially released their ALDS roster ahead of Friday night’s Game 1 with the Minnesota Twins. This is the squad:

The Yanks went with 12 pitchers, the most surprising one being Tyler Lyons. The Yankees have liked his spin rates as a left-on-left guy, so maybe there will be a fifth-inning Max Kepler or Jake Cave strikeout at some point.

As far as position players, Luke Voit did make the team and Mike Ford did not. The four-man bench, presumably, consists of Austin Romine, Tyler Wade, Cameron Maybin, and Voit.

I’m surprised to see no Ford after the whole locker thing from earlier in the week, but ultimately I think this is the right move. How could you leave Voit off entirely after all he did this year, even with the injuries and slump down the stretch? Gotta have him.

Other than that, though, not really any surprises, right? Right.
