Boone made some ALDS roster notes ahead of the official announcement/release that will take place Friday morning.

CC Sabathia will not be on the roster. He has a shoulder injury, received a cortisone shot, and will attempt to get ready in time for future rounds, if necessary.

James Paxton will start Game 1, Masahiro Tanaka will start Game 2, and Luis Severino will start Game 3. I’m kind of surprised by this, given the way the Yanks lined up their rotation against Texas, but this is probably the most obvious way to line it up. Hopefully, Games 4 and 5 will never happen and we don’t need to worry about it because we sweep the Twins. Agreed?

The expectation is that Edwin Encarnacion will be good to go for tomorrow. Encarnacion said he would be ready when he spoke to reporters Wednesday, but this doubles down on that. Yankees haven’t made that decision officially official, but it seems pretty likely.

As far as I could see on Twitter, there was no formal announcement on Mike Ford, however, there were reports that Clint Frazier’s locker was given to Ford yesterday, so it sounds like they found a way to squeeze Ford on the roster. Is that at Luke Voit’s expense? Did the CC injury open up the spot? I dunno, but it sounds like Ford is going to be on the team. That’s the most interesting storyline heading into the official announcement.

We will try to get you the latest reports as they start coming out.
